Things to do in Cabo San Lucas

Check Out the Beaches

Medano Beach

Medano Beach Cabo San Lucas

Spending the day on the beautiful Medano Beach is a popular thing to do in Cabo San Lucas.  Here you will find a variety of water sports including jet skis, paddleboarding, kayaking, and parasailing.  Medano Beach is also suitable for swimming although the ocean waves can make it can be difficult to get in and out of the water.

It also has a variety of great restaurants and bars who would be happy to have you stop in.  Unlike the quieter beaches outside of town, Medano Beach draws a lot of people.  You will also find many vendors who will likely approach you about purchasing their products.

Santa Maria Beach

Santa Maria Beach, Cabo San Lucas

Santa Maria Beach is one of the best beaches in the area providing calm waters for swimming and snorkeling.  This horseshoe-shaped beach is less busy than Medano Beach because of its location just outside of Cabo San Lucas. The sand here is coarser than some beaches but is a fair trade-off for fewer people.

It can be reached by car, local bus or taxi and is about 15 minutes from Cabo San Lucas.  This location does have restrooms and you are able to rent umbrellas for around $12 USD/228 pesos.  You may want to arrive before 10:00 a.m. and or after 4:00 p.m. to get a spot before tour boats arrive with groups ready to enjoy the beach and snorkeling.  Keep in mind there is no access to food or water at this beach so bring your own.

Chileno Beach

Chileno Beach Cabo San Lucas

Chileno Beach is another beautiful beach, which is great for swimming and snorkeling.  You’ll find an array of colorful fish swimming along the rocks and tide pools ready for exploring.  Some visitors enjoy Chileno Beach over Santa Maria Beach due to its slightly finer sand and a wider array of fish.

This beach can be reached by taxi, local bus or car and is about 15 minutes from Cabo San Lucas.  Chileno Beach offers free parking, restrooms, showers, a lifeguard and handicap access to the beach.  Umbrellas can be rented for $10 USD/192 pesos.  This beach does not have access to food or water so bring your own.

Lover’s Beach

Lover's Beach Cabo San Lucas

Lover’s Beach, also known as Playa del Amor, is located in front of the iconic Land’s End rocks.  If you pass through the rocks you will find Divorce Beach on the Pacific side and an area that is not swimmable due to the strong waves and undercurrent.

Lover’s Beach is beautiful with its large rock formations and clear water.  This beach is only accessible by water taxi or kayak from Medano Beach or the marina. Although there are no umbrellas, restrooms, food or beverage options, visitors often spend time swimming and snorkeling at this beautiful beach.

Consider Snorkeling with Whale Sharks
