Planning a gluten-free Bora Bora getaway? Wondering if the St. Regis Bora Bora can accommodate gluten-free or celiac travelers? That’s exactly what I was asking myself before our trip.

As someone with celiac disease, I know how stressful it can be to travel—especially to a remote island where food options might be limited. But at The St. Regis Bora Bora, I was genuinely impressed. Gluten-free dining didn’t mean bland or boring. In fact, it became one of the most memorable parts of our stay.

Gluten-Free Bora Bora:
Is the St. Regis Celiac Safe?

What You Need to Know

This guide to gluten-free Bora Bora highlights the best celiac-safe dining at the St. Regis resort.

I’ve marked all restaurants I’ve personally tested with”Trudy Traveler Recommended”. In my experience, each restaurant has accommodated gluten-free dining needs, and I have not had cross-contamination issues.

Gluten-Free Bora Bora: St. Regis Highlights

From check-in to check-out, the staff at The St. Regis Bora Bora made my dietary needs a true priority. My gluten intolerance must have been noted in their system, because even the welcome gift waiting in our villa was gluten-free.

Here are a few highlights from my experience:

  • Staff were knowledgeable about gluten and the importance of preventing cross-contamination

  • Servers consistently clarified if I had celiac disease or a gluten sensitivity

  • When unsure about ingredients, servers proactively checked with the chefs before confirming anything

  • I experienced zero issues with cross-contamination during my stay

  • Out of all the meals I had, only one dish couldn’t be modified to be gluten-free

Breakfast: A Delicious Start to a Day in paradise

Te Pahu Restaurant

The buffet breakfast at Te Pahu offered plenty of options and was lovely start to the day.

Highlights included:

  • Clearly labeled gluten-free bread

  • A wide selection of fresh tropical fruits

  • Assorted meats and cheeses

  • Made-to-order eggs, prepared safely upon request

  • Gluten-free pancakes, French toast, and more available on request

While the menus weren’t fully labeled, the staff made it easy to navigate with confidence.

About 99% of the time, when I asked if a dish could be made gluten-free, the answer was “yes.” The only exception I came across was the fish used in their classic fish and chips—it couldn’t be made gluten-free.

Even better, they have a dedicated fryer on-site. I loved the shrimp skewers and fries, which were both safe and delicious. They also substituted gluten-free bread for a hamburger bun, which held up surprisingly well.

My favorite items? The shrimp skewers, fresh salads, and anything with fries.

Dinner: Gourmet Without Gluten

Te Pahu - Polynesian Night

We enjoyed Polynesian Night at Te Pahu Restaurant.  The live entertainment—featuring local dancers, singers, and musicians—created an unforgettable atmosphere.

Trudy Tip: It fills up quickly so get there early to get a table up front.

Although the meal is buffet-style, gluten-free options are clearly marked, and I was pleasantly surprised by how many delicious dishes were safe to eat. The staff is more than willing to accommodate food allergies and will prepare separate gluten-free plates upon request. Their attention to detail and genuine care made the evening feel extra special. Lagoon Restaurant

For a truly unforgettable gluten-free Bora Bora dinner, the St. Regis delivers five-star flavors at Lagoon.

Lagoon offers plenty of gluten-free options in a stunning, overwater setting. The sunset views over Mount Otemanu are absolutely breathtaking and make the experience feel even more special.

While we didn’t try it ourselves, Lagoon features a Discovery Dinner—an innovative, chef-curated multi-course meal where each dish is a surprise. For more flexibility, you can also order à la carte; dishes like steak and fresh seafood are readily available and can be prepared gluten-free upon request.

The food was beautifully presented and full of flavor. Yes, it’s on the pricey side and the portions are modest, but the experience as a whole feels like a luxurious treat.

I highly recommend starting your evening with a sunset cocktail at 727 Bar before heading to dinner. And don’t forget to make reservations in advance—Lagoon is the resort’s signature restaurant and it fills up fast.

Bamboo Restaurant (Asian Fusion)

Trudy Traveler Recommended

Bamboo delivered a creative take on pan-Asian cuisine, with thoughtful gluten-free options and excellent service.

While the menu wasn’t fully labeled, the staff—like at the other restaurants—were helpful, informed, and happy to accommodate. They created custom gluten-free dishes without hesitation, and I felt confident dining there.

The variety of sushi and other dishes that can be adapted makes Bamboo a solid option for gluten-free travelers looking for fresh flavors with an Asian twist.

Farniente Ristorante (Italian)

We didn’t dine at Farniente ourselves, but other gluten-free travelers have reported a variety of safe options, including pasta and bread.

Like the other restaurants at The St. Regis Bora Bora, other gluten-free travelers report that the staff are knowledgeable and take careful precautions to avoid cross-contamination.

Farniente combines traditional Italian cooking with a beautiful tropical setting, offering dishes like pasta and risotto that can be made gluten-free.

I also recommend making reservations in advance, as the restaurant is popular and books up quickly.

Gluten-Free Bora Bora: Absolutely!

Email Ahead to Note Dietary Restrictions

Before your stay, I recommend emailing the St. Regis Bora Bora at butler.borabora@stregis.com to inform them of your gluten-free or celiac dietary needs. Their butler team is attentive and can make arrangements in advance to ensure your meals and snacks are handled safely.

Confirm Each Meal with Your Server

Although the resort is very accommodating, always reconfirm with your server before each meal that your dish is gluten-free and prepared safely.

Pack Gluten-Free Basics, Just in Case

While the St. Regis offers an impressive range of gluten-free options, I always recommend bringing your own essential gluten-free staples. I always pack snack items such as crackers, granola bars, and more. These can be lifesavers on travel days and during excursions.
